Diaconie collecte in augustus
The Koning Willem Fonds, aka as The Netherlands Benevolent Society, helps people of Dutch origin who face challenges, and/or live in distressed circumstances, in the United Kingdom. Requests for help received by the Charity are very varied and can be quite complex. Trustees of the Charity are all fellow Dutch people who give their time and effort free of charge. Below are excerpts from the most recent Charity Newsletter sent to supporters end June, 2025.
- We hope people approaching us for help will find our new website www.koningwillemfonds.org.uk easy to use and similarly hope those who would like to learn more about us gain a useful understanding of the valuable work the KWF does.
- In the first half of 2025 a further reduction in applicant numbers has been noted. We estimate by the end of June 2025, around 65 individuals will have approached the Charity; this compares with some 160 in the first half of 2024. For the full year, we anticipate this total to stand at 130-135 people.
- One-off push pressures resulting from Brexit and Covid have been resolved. Nonetheless, the global economic outlook is fragile, and so further easing is viewed as unlikely.
- Charity applicant numbers are therefore expected to remain at historically high levels, that is, at roughly double the recent 10-15 year average.
The Charity (KWF) has very few fixed overhead costs so even a small donation immediately feeds through to our applicants. Please consider setting up a monthly donation if you can.
